Dispatch Team
Take a moment to meet your dispatchers....
Hopefully, this helps you tie a face to the voices you work with over the radio.

Heather Hollingsworth- Dispatch supervisor
I have been with AMR since 2016. In this time, I worked in the Sutter BLS division, then transferred to the ALS division. After about a year in the ALS division I was given the opportunity to cross train in dispatch. Through time I became a lead dispatcher, CTO as well as being able to cross train in scheduling. In September of this year 2024 I was promoted to the Communications Supervisor.

JAY Zilka
Hello there, I’m Jay Zilka. I will have been working in dispatch for 1 year come June 3rd, but EMS is not new to me. Brannen Zilka- the man, the myth, the legend- is my husband of 17 years. Together we have a 15-year-old daughter Kayla (new student driver so watch out on the roads ;) and 14-year-old son Noah (golfing extraordinaire). We also have 4 dogs and 2 cats to round out our circus. In my limited free time I like to work out, browse aimlessly up and down the aisles of Marshalls & Nordstrom Rack, and adventure with my family. I also split my time working for an amazing wedding production company, Bustle Events. My favorite part of being a dispatcher is feeling like I am part of a team; working together to keep our Medics and EMTs safe. If I had to listen to one song on repeat for the rest of my life it would be ‘It’s a Great Day to be Alive’ by Travis Tritt. It’s my reminder, as a cancer survivor, that each day from here on out is a blessing.

Karina Zainasheff
Hi everyone I started as an EMT in 2014, and here with AMR in 2016, where I met the man next to me. Over the years I have become an FTO and involved myself with CES, and joined SOU. I have also dispatched for multiple sheriffs offices and fire departments before cross training to our dispatch center. If I’m not on the rig, I’m at station 2 now.
In my free time I love to do all the nerd things, but my favorite is music. We love to go to as many concerts as we can and explore.
See y’all out there!

Heather Murray
I started work for AMR in 1999 at the old Bay com dispatch center, I also worked as an EMT in Santa Clara County at the same time working full time pretty much at both locations. I also worked for a short period of time in Alameda county and Contra Costa county as an EMT.
After Bay com closed down in 2012, I went on to work for Rural Metro in Santa Clara county. In 2015 I made my way back to AMR and starting dispatching for Contra Costa county again.
I really enjoy dispatching, and I missed dispatching for the time that I wasn't. In my down time I enjoy spending time going on vacation and adventures with my family.
My favorite song I could play on repeat - Celine Dion - Immortality

Hello Contra Costa crews! I went to Columbia College in Sonora in 1997 to study Fire Science and EMS. I started my Fire/EMS career in 1997 as a Firefighter/EMT for Tuolumne County Fire in Sonora and worked as a firefighter/EMT for Jamestown Fire Protection District as well. In 2000 I started working for American Legion Ambulance Post 108 in Sutter Creek as an EMT. I spent 16 years on an ALS ambulance before medically retiring from the field after 2 spinal surgeries. I have lived in the Bay Area the majority of my life and noticed at the time, Contra Costa County AMR was hiring for dispatchers and I thought I could contribute. I've been with AMR for just over 6 years. While dispatch has its own unique work factors, shifts here are pretty run of the mill. I enjoy working with a great dispatch team and crews. I live in Contra Costa County and like to spend my time off with my friends, family and my dog. I enjoy taking long drives and taking scenic photos along the way. I look forward to continuing to work with you all in the system!

Sarah klein
Hi! My name is Sarah, also known as SK!
I have been working in our dispatch center for a little over a year now and I absolutely love it. Knowing we are helping people everyday and working with the field as a team is very rewarding. When I’m not at work I love to spend my time going to Giants baseball games and chasing my three little kiddos around. This past year I’ve been working for AMR has been great and I can’t wait for many more years to come.

Taylor Cardenas
Hi everyone! My name is Taylor. I’ve been dispatching with AMR since the glorious Covid days of January 2020. I have two amazing children, Mason is six years old and amazes me regularly with his desire to learn and my daughter Mavis is almost two and that little spitfire is ready to take on the world. When I’m not trapped behind the screen I love to get out into nature with my kids to recharge, read a good book (murder and horror of course), spend time with my family, and begrudgingly do my homework. I am wrapping up my degree in Criminology and look forward to making my fascination for true crime into a career. Hope to see you guys around, if levels allow!

Julianna Portillo
Hey guys! I'm Julianna Portillo. I grew up in Richmond as the youngest of 3 siblings. I started dispatching for AMR in 2022. I've loved every experience and opportunity AMR has given me, so much so that I became an EMT as well so If you see me in the field say hey! Like many of yall, I'm on the path of becoming a firefighter. When I'm not working you can find me on a beach, in the gym, or eating good food with my friends. Fun fact: I love anything pink!
